Above is one of my all time favorite grafitti/street artists. His take on art is always fresh and masterfully exicuted. Here is a video of his exploits in central and south america.
So since i listen to way too much music and people always ask me what is new and good these days i thought i should start an Doinwork.com affiliated music blog. I call it DOIN’ MUSIC! Right now there are only a few post but i will be upadating it daily so make sure to check it regularily for some serious fire.
I found this site randomly one day and was pretty impressed with it. Basically you just upload a “summer mix” to the site and its displayed with a bunch of other artists mixes. I uploaded my wizard stick mix to it. Check it out. Edit: yes i forgot to put links in before, but they are there now.
Recently out friend and Goldfronts team-mate Hans started a music blog. Its called “The Factory Press” and its sick. He always has new shit up on there, and its ALWAYS poppin’. Everyone should go there and check it out, maybe you will find your new favorite song. Hans also just posted the NEW REMIX that i finished as well, so get that shit too.
So recently i have become addicted to hotornot.com, again. Fuck………. oh well. Anyways that site is so strugglin its not funny. But i have updated my profile and such, so i guess we’ll see what goes down. Admittedly i’m doing this because its fucking hilarious to see and judge these people. But deep down we all really just want to find out what people think of us.
Here is a small sampling of the great “people” you can find on the site.
Tokyo Police club released their first full length on tuesday called Elephant Shell and I must say how impressed I am. It is an album I truly feel everyone can enjoy. If there was one word to describe it I would use accesible. Now I am not one to tell people what they should listen to or try to justify why (or why not) and album is important. This mainly has to do with my taste in music which is sometimes (definelty) extremely questionable. I think the thing that really struck me was here’s a band who knows what they do best and are doing exactly that.
A lot of albums are trying too hard to be a departure from their previous material or come across as overly ambitious almost too much thought goes into them, this most certainly is not. It’s 30 minutes of extra reliable, undeniably catchy, raw dance punk. A rather saturated genre these days but TPC does it right. No cliched synth sounds, no shitty electronic beats, just killer melodies and good times. I can’t express how fun this record is. It’s decidedly less frantic than their original EP but still maintains the core sound. Lastly the lyrics on this record are outstanding. The songs don’t have any real simple meanings rather it seems a series of awesome sounding lines that stick in your head. some of my favorites being juno’s ” you and your soapy eyes called it off so late at night/ your hand’s on your heart cause your head’s always right” ” I’m gonna go for the science/ I’m gonna stay for the decimals”
However much sense that made (I’m guessing little) please go out and buy this record I guarantee you will appreciate it.
We at doin work would like to welcome our number one fan as an official member of our team. Everyone better be ready for the heat thats coming. Cam, show em what you do!
So as the title describes there are new mixes up on goldfrontrecords, three to be exact. Two from yours truly and one from Doin’ Work’s partner in crime DJ Barletta. Everyone should check them out as well as the other mixes up there if you havnt heard those either.
